Gibson Blackwood Firesides
Our Firesides are fun and easy to play, have extraordinary harmonics, and are an excellent option for indoor piping. Available in the key of A or the key of Bb, the Firesides are able to play along with many other instruments, much easier than a set of Highland pipes. They can also easily be converted between keys with the switching out of the chanter and reeds. Each drone is able to be individually turned on and off with the rotation of the respective regulator stock. Whether you'd like a set for practicing, performing, or starting a ceilidh band, these won't disappoint!
African Blackwood is a very dense, very dark wood that is the most traditional wood used in bagpipe making. It resonates a beautiful tone that is brighter than that of Cocobolo, but warmer than that of Polypenco Plastic.
These Blackwood Firesides are available with brass, imitation ivory, or imitation horn ferrules.
Each set of our smallpipes comes fully set up with reeds and tied into a medium Bannatyne synthetic bag. Please contact us if you're interested in additional options such as a different size bag, etc.
